I feel like I have been walking around in a fog for over a month. Really. Why? Well, that’s for another time maybe, but I’ll just say that there’s been some pretty deep personal family stuff going on. But, I realized recently that I haven’t been doing any of the things that I like to do, and writing on this blog is one of them. What made me realize it was the other day when I picked up my camera to take a picture of my youngest at our new piano(new to us), oh, did I tell you we got a piano? Anyway, I realized that I hadn’t taken any pictures for weeks, and I like to take pictures! Before all this personal stuff happened, I was putting a lot of pressure on myself to write these great pieces, but I just decided to have fun and get back to the things I enjoy. And just to enjoy them.

So anyway, just to keep it light and no pressure on myself, I thought I’d tell you about one of my favorite things. What’s easier than that? My most favorite thing is my Dyson, but if you want to read about that, you can go back through my posts. I converted someone else to Dysons just recently–my count keeps growing. But, back to the favorite thing. I had planned to write about OPI a while ago, I realized that I took these pictures in January–so(drum roll), OPI nail polish. A definite favorite as you can see from the picture. I own a lot of bottles, and they look so pretty all lined up on my sink. When I was a teenager I painted my nails constantly. I have always grown my own, and just like maintaining and taking care of my natural nails. I have tried a lot of brands of nail polish, and OPI is my hands down favorite. In fact, I don’t think I have bought any other brand in at least three years. The polish looks great on, and it lasts. I find that with any brand how many dishes you wash is directly proportional to the number of days your polish lasts, but I can usually get a week out of a DOUBLE coat of OPI no problem. And, they have a color for everyone! I’m not a blue gal myself, but if you are, you can find it. I tend to lean toward the sparkly myself. OPI polish tends to be a little pricier than some of the drug store brands, and you usually find it in salons, but I feel those few extra dollars is worth it! Do you use OPI?
Two stand outs:

I love the names of the polishes too! Kudos to the creative genius behind them!!

This deer is mocking me–I guess because she’s on the other side of the fence!

Valentine’s Day is a good thing. Really. I know some people hate it, but otherwise the month of February would TOTALLY suck. We need a little break from the monotony of winter. So, I like to get out and get my kids a little treat, because I’m not one of those people that buys them something every time we go to the store. Also, I like to give my hubby a little thank you for putting up with me all winter long. It’s been a particularly tough one for me this year, so I am sure I am getting on his nerves. It’s been so cold lately that I can’t even send my kids outside without feeling guilty, or wondering if one of my neighbors might call social services. We are cooped! We need Valentine’s Day!

Now, I dislike making things. I’m not sure why, it’s in my blood(the liking, not the disliking). My mom used to sew our clothes, she’s even made things for my kids. We hardly ever ate out, and she baked a lot. My sisters are good cooks, they enjoy doing it, but not me. I like to eat, but cooking and baking are not my thing. My kids are always shocked by homemade deserts that my family members make, and my husband always complains that anytime I make something really great, it is always for someone else or to take to a party. Which is true, poor guy. Crafting is not my thing either, but I really need to give myself a pat on the back, also I am going to put my ideas out here for others, because every time I look for Valentine’s Day box ideas, they are lacking.

My kids and I spent the evening on Friday making boxes for their parties they will have at school today. I heard all week last week how all these other kids had already brought their boxes in, I guess they just have better mothers than me. Sigh. My poor, deprived children. Well, anyway here is what we ended with. Pretty cool, huh? This uncrafty mom came through, even if we did just get done in time for the party. Happy Valentine’s Day, anyway!!!
